Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as Dreamville Records' debut female singer for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. In October 2016 Ari Lennox dropped her debut EP Pho. This was the moment that she was recognized. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began uploading her music on the internet in 2012 as she launched her debut mixtape called Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography in 2013. In 2014, Ari Lennox dropped her single Bound and her mixtape, which she released herself, Five Finger Discount. In the year 2015, she performed in Omen's Elephant Eyes Album on Sweat released on the 21st of July. The following year, her music began to circulate around the Dreamville team, as J. Cole wanted her to work with him on some references for Rihanna. The news was released on the 8th of December she signed with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she performed together with Cozz for The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. On October 21, 2016, her debut EP was released titled Pho. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's hit song Change and also performed as the opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in the year 2017. In 2018, she performed as a guest performer on two songs with the EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song as well as Bas's Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video was released on September 5th. On November 9 the singer released two new singles: 40 Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. On November 13 two new singles, titled No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby is a song that she performed together with Cole on Creed II's soundtrack on November 16th. The track was released as a stand-alone single in February of 2019 to coincide with the release of her debut album. A music video debuted on 20 February 2019 to go along with the track. Within one week, it had over 3 million views. In December 2018, she performed as an opening act for From East Atlanta With Love Tour. From East Atlanta With Love Tour with 6LACK.
