Ari Lennox
Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's debut female singer with Dreamville Records by J. Cole. In the month of October Ari Lennox debuted her EP Pho. It was here that she was recognized. Her debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox started uploading music to the Internet in 2012, when she released her mixtape debut Five Finger Discount, and her debut EP Ariography in the year 2013. The year 2014 saw her continue to release her music on the web, including her own launched single Bound. On 21st of July 2015, Omen included her in Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville team at the time, wanted to have her perform on Rihanna reference. Then, in December of 2008 it was announced that Rihanna had contracted with Dreamville Records. Backseat was a track she co-wrote with Cozz to record the collaboration album Revenge of the Dreamers II. The 21st of October, 2016, she dropped her debut EP titled Pho. Ari Lennox then appeared as the opening act for J. Cole on his single Change in 2017. She also performed on 4 Your Eyez Only Tour. The singer also performed on the tracks Nothing but the Best by EarthGang as well as Icarus together with Bas the label's co-founders. The 16th of July, 2018, Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream from her debut album Shea Butter Baby with an accompanied music video on September 5. The second single she released was called Grampa on the 9th of November. Two more singles were released by her on 11/13 with the titles Pedigree and One. Then she appeared in the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track titled Shea Butter Baby on November 16 and released as a single on the 26th of February, 2019, for her debut album of the same title. In February of 2019 a music video was made available for the track. The track has received more than three million views on YouTube in its debut week. As a support act she performed together with 6LACK during December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
