Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's debut female singer for Dreamville Records by J. Cole. Dreamville Records released her debut EP, Pho, in October 2016 where she started getting noticed. Shea Butter Baby is her debut album. It came out on May 19, 2019. Ari Lennox first released music online in 2012. She released her debut album Ariography and debut mixtape in 2013 with the mixtape Five Finger Discount. The year 2014 saw Ari Lennox continued to post her music on the internet, including her self-released single Bound. The song Sweat it featured on Omen's Elephant Eyes album, which was released on July 21 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew at that time, wanted to have her work on Rihanna references. In December 2008, it was announced that Rihanna had contracted to Dreamville Records. In the record Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat alongside Cozz. The 21st of October, 2016, her Pho EP was released. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as being an opener on The 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017 in which she was joined by EarthGang. She also appeared in 2018 on two tracks with her label-mates EarthGang for Nothing but the Best. and Bas On Icarus. Ari Lennox's debut album Shea Butter Baby was released on 16 July 2018. The first single, called Whipped Cream The album's first single, Whipped Cream was released on September 5, 2018 with a music video. The second single she released was called Grampa on the 9th of November. In November 13, she dropped two singles titled No One and Pedigree. She then appeared on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on a track entitled Shea Butter Baby on November 16, and it was released as a single in February, 2019 for her debut album of the same name. In February of 2019 the video music for the track was launched. The track has garnered more than three million YouTube views in just a single week. As a support act, she toured with 6LACK during December 2018 on the From East Atlanta With Love Tour.
