Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, also called Ari Lennox, a Washington, D.C.-based American singer/songwriter, was signed as the label's first female artist on Dreamville Records by J. Cole. In October of 2016, Ari Lennox released her EP Pho. It was here that she received recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album was released the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox started posting her music to the internet in 2012 as she launched her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. The year 2014 saw her release additional music on the internet including Bound. The 21st day of July, 2015, Omen included her in Elephant Eyes the track Sweat It Out. J. Cole had her send her songs for the Dreamville Team later that year as he wanted Rihanna to be able work alongside her on some of the songs. The official signing ceremony was held with Dreamville Records on 8 December. Backseat, a track she recorded together with Cozz on The Revenge of the Dreamers II collaborative album. She released Pho, her debut EP on October 21 the 21st of October, 2016. Ari Lennox appeared in J. Cole's Change track and also opened the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017. She also appeared in 2018 in two of her songs with label-mates EarthGang to Nothing but the Best. Also, she appeared on Bas on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July in 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video for it was also released on September 5th. On November 9 she released two singles titled 40 Shades of Choke and Grampa. On November 13 two new singles called The No One and Pedigree. She appeared with Cole on her Creed II Soundtrack on Shea Butter Baby, on November 16and later made the track available in a solo version to her first album. In February 2019, her music video to this track was launched. It has had more than three million YouTube views within a week. In December 2018 the singer was a part of her From East Atlanta With Love Tour, which featured 6LACK.
