Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter, aka Ari Lennox, was born in Washington, D.C. on April 26th, 1991. She is an American artist and songwriter, as well as the first artist to be signed by J. Cole to his record label Dreamville Records. The first single, Pho was released on the 21st of October, 2016 and was released on Dreamville Records. The singer began to earn recognition. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on May 7, 2019. Ari Lennox began posting her music to the internet in 2012 when she released her debut mixtape, Five Finger Discount and debut EP Ariography, in 2013. In 2014, she dropped additional music on the internet including Bound. She appeared in Omen's Elephant Eyes and from Sweat It Out, July 21st in 2015. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then and wanted her to perform on Rihanna references. The news was released on December 8, that she was signed to Dreamville Records. On the record Revenge of the Dreamers II which she was featured on, she sang the track Backseat with Cozz. On October 21, 2016 the EP Pho debuted. Ari Lennox later appeared on J. Cole's track Change and performed as an opener on the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour in 2017. in 2018, the singer-songwriter performed on two tracks featuring EarthGang and EarthGang, on Nothing but the Best, as well as Bas, on Icarus. Ari Lennox, on the 16th of July 2018 was the first artist to release her single "Whipped Cream" from Shea Butter Baby. The music video to accompany it came out on the 5th. Then on November 9 she dropped two more singles: forty Shades of Choke as well as Grampa. In November 13, she came out with two additional singles, One and Pedigree. One and Pedigree. Then she appeared as a guest on the Creed II soundtrack with Cole on the track Shea Butter Baby on November 16th. She released the single in February, 2019 for her debut album the same name. The song, made available with a video uploaded to YouTube 20 February 2019 has been watched over 3 million times within the first 7 days. She was one of the support acts for 6LACK in their From East Atlanta With Love Tour in December of 2018.
