Ari Lennox

Courtney Shanade Salter (born March 26 1991) is better known under her stage moniker Ari Lennox is an American musician and singer from Washington, D.C. She is the first female artist affiliated with J. Cole's record label Dreamville Records. The first album she released for the label on Oct. 21 2016 titled Pho where she started to gain notoriety. Shea Butter Baby, her debut studio album, debuted on the 7th of May, 2019. Ari Lennox posted her songs online in 2012 after she released her five Finger Discount mixtape and Ariography EP in 2013. The singer continued uploading her music online in 2014, including the independently-released single Bound. On 21st of July the 21st of July in 2015 Omen was featured on Elephant Eyes' track"Sweat It Out. J. Cole, who was part of the Dreamville crew back then was interested in having her perform on Rihanna references. On December 8, that she had signed with Dreamville Records. She was featured on the collaborative album Revenge of the Dreamers II in the track Backseat featuring Cozz. In October 2016 the singer-songwriter released her debut EP, Pho. Ari Lennox performed the song Change by J. Cole as well as opening the 4 Your Eyez Only Tour 2017, in which she accompanied by EarthGang. She also appeared as a guest on two songs, with EarthGang's Nothing but the Best song and Bas's Icarus. On July 16 2018 Ari Lennox released the first single Whipped Cream of her album debut Shea Butter Baby with an accompanying music video that was released on the 5th of September. In November, she dropped the singles forty Shades of Choke & Grampa. On November 13 she then dropped two singles titled The No One and Pedigree. Shea Butter Baby. Shea Butter Baby was then able to make appearances on the Creed II album soundtrack alongside Cole. She released this track as a single in order to announce her debut album Creed II on 26 February 2019. In February 2019, the video music for the song was released. The song has received more than three million YouTube views in just one week. In December 2018, she performed as an opening act for The From East Atlanta With Love Tour together with 6LACK.
